Another Herm Moment

From what we can tell, Herm has a good head on his/her shoulders!

Herm, 16 weeks (shhh! someone's sleeping!)

Okay, so I had kind of a scary moment this week. On Thursday I was walking down my stairs and was near the bottom when I coughed. My foot slipped out from under me and I proceeded to slip down the steps. I slid down two-three stairs on my back side! I got up right away and was more worried about Herm than anything, so I didn't feel any pain right away. I called the doctor and they got me in that afternoon just to check to make sure Herm was okay. Thank goodness I fell right on the fleshy part of my bum! I fell the best way possible. It is also good that Herm is not so far along because he/she is still quite cushioned inside of me at the moment. Everything is fine. In fact, by the time we got to the doctor's office, Herm was fast asleep. The heartrate was high (162), but mostly because mine was! I also have a very high resting heartrate, so my babies are likely to have high heartrates. Sorry, Mom, I guess that throws your heartrate theory out at least for me and my babies! Anyhow, we are so thankful our little avacado is safe and doing well. We did get a great shot of Herm's head. We'd like to think our little one has a good head on his/her shoulders!

Latest on Herm

Well, a week ago we had our latest Herm appointment. Not really much to report. I guess this is when no news is good news. At the next appointment, we schedule one of the big sonograms. A few weeks after that we will be able to have the sonogram to look at the heart. Herm is getting big though. I am slowly starting to gain weight. I still have a pound to go before I catch up to what I was when I first got pregnant. My belly is measuring 1 week ahead which is normal. Herm and I are at 16 weeks today, so Herm is about the size of an avacado. Herm is really starting to develop the soccer skills that will be needed when he/she arrives! Herm's heartrate was at 150 bpm at the appointment. At the beginning of my pregnancy, my friend Kim loaned me her fetal heart monitor. It is older and better than the ones you can find in the stores today. About three weeks ago, I was able to find Herm's heartbeat on my own! I tell you, this has been a great comfort to me! I have grown to depend on it! We will be leaving for a cruise on March 16, and I will NOT be taking it with me! It is going to take a lot for me to leave it at home! I will really have to commit to trusting in God. We all appreciate your continued your prayers on Herm's behalf. We will let you know when there is anymore news!

The Latest On Herm

Herm's heartbeat is a whoping 169 beats per min. That would make me pass out!

Herm has a backbone! The radius is Herm's elbow and the hand is near Herm's face.

Herm HeadOn (not applied directly to the forehead). (The uterus, bladder and cervix belong to me, not Herm). The doctor seemed very pleased to get such a great shot of the cervix.

Well, Herm is no longer a blob. I know a lot of people have trouble reading sonogram pictures, but hopefully some of the labels will help. Herm did look like a baby a few times during our visit, but these pictures don't show that very well. He/She is still quite small, not to mention a MOVER! He/She is following in his/her sister's footsteps! Herm moved several times throughout this process. For those of you who don't know, the central nervous system is just now developing, so most of these movements are involentary at the moment. Because I have had such a problem with gas and bloating, I can't say for sure that I have felt movement yet. With Babe B. I felt it at 10 weeks on the dot. We will see what the next few weeks brings. For now we know that Herm is doing very well. His/Her heartrate was measuring high like Babe B.'s. That is very common at this stage. Oh, and we searched for the blood that the doctor saw pooling last time. It is no longer there! We are looking very good! That was enough to releive me for at least two more weeks! I will start worring again soon, I am sure!
God Bless!

Daddy in Training

This deserves an introduction. I have craved McDonald's chicken nuggets a few times since getting pregnant. So, I just order the kid's meal with six piece nuggets. Everyone likes the toys right? Well, the toys were sitting in my living room by my chair. While we were watching TV and commercials were on, Stephen found them and this is what happened. I call it "Daddy in Training" because he is practicing to be a daddy. Needless to say, our child will never be deprived of entertainment so long as Daddy is around! So, now without further adieu....I present The Dancing Bears! *cheer, cheer*

A Blob on our blog!

Herm's Heartbeat

Herm's Livingroom

Herm Hutchins

We went to the doctor today to check-up on Herm after the bleeding episode the weekend after Christmas. As you can see, Herm is still a blob (hence the title of this post). The doctor says everything looks good. There still appears to be blood behind the sac, but not to be concerned. He plans to watch it pretty closely. We would appreciate prayers on Herm's behalf to make sure that he/she is safe and healthy. For those of you who don't know how to read sonogram pictures, Herm is the smaller sectioned off part in the single blob picture. You could fit two Herm's inside a US dime. The bigger section is Herm's current living room. If all goes well, he/she will have to move to a larger living room in about 8 months! The other picture is Herm's heartbeat which is at about 140 beats per min. For those of you keeping track, that is a pretty good indication that Herm is a boy, but YOU won't know that until Herm is born! HA HA! Stephen's first words when hearing the heart rate were, "It's a boy!" (I am paraphrasing!)
I hope this finds all of you doing well. Please continue to pray for us through this journey.

Love,
Lacie, Stephen and Herm Hutchins

And so we begin....

Well, I thought that it was about time to start a blog of my own since so many of my friends have a blog of their own. So here it is. It may be pretty sparse at first, but I hope to have a lot to fill it up with in 2008!

For those of you who don't already know, Stephen and I found out we are expecting our second child sometime in August! We are so excited, but nervous at the same time. After losing Babe B. so late in the pregnancy and to something that possibly could have been spotted, it has been hard to know what to think of this pregnancy. We are of course excited, but also very on edge! It didn't help when I had some spotting this last week and was confined to bed for the whole weekend! All is well as far as we know. We will post the first sonogram pictures as soon as we see a hearbeat. In the meantime, we have decided to have everyone call this child "Herm." Herm is a mixture of Her and Him. We decided to find out what we are having, but we are not telling anyone else. It seemed pretty clever to me to just put him and her together. Not to mention, Herm sounds a lot better than "It" or "Baby." So there it is!

We hope that all of you enjoyed your holiday season. We also wish all of you a wonderful 2008!

Love,
Stephen, Lacie, and Herm Hutchins
